Mason Hall

Mason is an Artist, and Community Organizer with over 20 years of experience in multiple types of creative projects ranging from film production to exhibit design and fabrication. He has co-founded two award winning arts organizations working with adult and youth communities fostering engagement in the arts through workshops and events management.

Today, he lives in California with his wife and two grown kids and works as an Exhibit Developer for institutions such the Exploratorium, Chabot Space and Science Center. He continues to pursue an art practice that regularly involves chasing the Milky Way and exploring the world at night.

Mason’s love of astronomy and astrophotography grew over time from a childhood spent camping under the stars into a passion for sharing the knowledge he has obtained from trying to capture the night sky. Building and engaging community is at the core of all the artistic endeavors so it's been a natural progression with his astrophotography to lead workshops and hold events around astronomy and night sky preservation.

For Mason Astrophotography is a form of exploration that blends the technical with the metaphysical but the joy comes from the persistent practice of getting outside into areas with dark skies. To see more of Mason’s past work check out Dark Sky Islands
